Riga International Airport (RIX) Car Hire

All additional drivers must meet all hire requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the contract at any hire location within the same country and at any time during the hire. An additional driver fee of 5.00 EUR per day applies.

After-hours pick-up
This hire location offers pick-up outside the opening hours. Customers must provide their flight information, including their flight number and arrival time. An additional charge of 50.00 EUR applies for pick-ups outside the opening hours.

After-hours returns
Vehicles can be returned outside the opening hours of this hire location. Please park the vehicle in a safe and secure designated parking space on the airport property only. Make sure that the vehicle is locked and ensure that you have gathered all of your personal belongings before leaving. Place the keys in the drop box. The drop box is located at the hire desk inside the airport arrivals hall. No additional charges apply for returns outside the opening hours. The renter's responsibility for the vehicle and hire charges end once an employee inspects the vehicle on the next business day.

The minimum age requirement to hire all vehicles is 23. There is no maximum hire age. Renters between the age of 18 and 21 may hire all categories except Passenger Vans. A young driver fee of 4.28 EUR per day applies to all renters between the ages of 18 and 21.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the liability of the renter in the event of collision to the bodywork of the vehicle. If CDW is not included in the reservation, the renter has liability for up to the full market value of the vehicle. CDW is available for purchase if not included in the booking. If included in the reservation or purchased, the excess amounts are as follows:

Economy: 900 EUR
Compact: 1,000 EUR
Intermediate: 1,100 EUR
Standard, Passenger Van: 1,400 EUR

Excess will be charged every time a vehicle is damaged. CDW is not insurance.

Delivery and collection service is available to hotels in the centre of Riga, Riga Old Town, Jūrmala, Riga Ferry Harbour, Riga Railway Station and Riga Bus Station during main office hours at a charge of 20.00 EUR (incl. VAT) per delivery or collection.

Deliveries and collections outside city limits or over 10 kilometres in distance at the renter's request will cost an additional 0.75 EUR (incl. VAT) per kilometre.

All rentals where the vehicle is not returned to the same location as it was collected from will be subject to a one-way fee. The one-way fee varies based on car category, location and pick-up date. The exact amount of the one-way fee will be displayed during the reservation process when entering the dates, desired route and car category.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank. As a customer, you can choose how you pay for fuel:
Option 1 – Pre-pay Fuel
This option allows the renter to pay for the tank of fuel at the time of hire and return the tank empty. No refunds will be issued for unused fuel.
Option 2 – We Refill
This option allows the renter to pay the hire company at the end of the hire for fuel used but not replaced. For missing fuel, there is a refuelling service fee of 37.50 EUR and fuel is charged at 2.80 EUR per litre.
Option 3 – You Refill
This option allows the renter to return the vehicle with a full tank to avoid extra fuel charges.

An administration fee of 50 EUR per incident applies to all traffic violations, parking fines, speeding offences or damage incurred. Loss of the vehicle keys will incur a replacement fee of 400 EUR. Loss of the car registration documents will result in a replacement fee of 200 EUR. If a customer smokes in the vehicle, the renter will be charged a penalty of 250 EUR. If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty, there will be a cleaning fee of up to 250 EUR.

All major credit cards, issued by either Mastercard and Visa, are accepted. All cards presented must be in the renter's name. A security deposit plus the estimated cost of the hire will be taken at the time of hire. The deposit is 700 EUR for the Economy categories, 800 EUR for the Compact categories, 900 EUR for the Intermediate categories, and 1,100 EUR for the Standard and People Carrier categories.

National offers Roadside Assistance Protection -RAP- at select locations. RAP allows the customer to waive financial responsibility for chargeable roadside incidents such as lockouts, vehicle technical failure, towing, replacement car. RAP can be added for 2.48 Euro plus VAT per day.
RAP coverage does not include the following  Flat tire, fuel delivery and key replacement.
RAP is void and null if at the time of the incident necessitating roadside assistance the renter or authorized drivers are in violation of the rental agreement. In such cases Roadside Assistance will be available but standard charges will apply.
National rental locations do not provide direct Roadside Assistance to the renter. The assistance is provided by a car dealership on behalf of National. RAP is available during the office rental operating hours by calling  371 29338899. Roadside Assistance outside of Latvia can also be obtained by calling 371 29338899 but is not included within this RAP package and is subject to additional charges.

All drivers must present a full valid driving licence. All renters must provide valid photo ID such as a passport or ID card. A valid credit card in the renter's name must also be presented upon collection of the vehicle.
An International Driving Permit is required for all customers who hold a non-European driving licence. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines.
Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed, which may include an identity check with an external organisation.

Supplementary Liability Protection - Third Party Liability coveragage limits for third party bodily injury or death is 5,000,000 EUR and for third party property damage, 1,000,000 EUR. There is no specific minimum coverage amount for this insurance policy as ever case is investigated individually.
